Veritone Launches Two Very Different Enterprise Generative AI Applications
HR and Advertising are not often thought of together
While much of the frenzy around generative AI is trending toward consumer applications of ChatGPT, search, and browsers, enterprise applications may turn out to be the real drivers of adoption in 2023. Veritone last week offered several examples of solutions with immediate enterprise application. They also represent very different generative AI-based solutions for the enterprise.
The fact that these are different use cases highlights the fact that large language models have broad application to business problems. You are not likely to see an HR and advertising use case in the same article very often, but here we are. Oh, and that’s not all. There were also sports and law enforcement use cases highlighted.
Hiring Process Automation
Hiring is a very people-centric process. It has largely escaped automation other than for pre-screening, and some of those solutions have led to issues of programmatic bias. PandoLogic’s new PandoSelect solution uses a GPT-3 based chatbot to ask and answer questions during the initial candidate screening. Cesar Capistrano of ARC Logistix commented about the new solution:
With the PandoSelect solution, we have seen great results from their conversational AI product, helping us qualify and engage candidates in our pipeline, and ultimately allowing us to ask and answer specific questions as part of the application process. The result: an organic conversation and engaging experience with prospective talent, while at the same time enriching the candidate’s profile to help us qualify them for the role.
The video above walks through the product experience flow for the new hire candidate. It is notable that Capistrano didn’t focus on the added efficiency in the process. That is surely a key benefit. However, his comments centered on creating an engaging experience and “enriching the candidate’s profile.”
A key point is that the solution captures more information than traditional automated processes that can help better identify quality candidates and potentially reduce the bias found in resume screening tools. Veritone did not mention that last point, but it is my expectation about where this is headed for HR screening.
Multilingual Ad Generation
Then we have multilingual ads. There is another video released with the announcement that depicts the creation of an audio ad. To get started, the marketer can leverage a no-code/low-code ad building visualizer and tap into a GPT-3-powered feature to write a 30 second ad about a particular product.
After it is finalized, the user can select a synthetic voice to render the ad and then replicate it in multiple languages. The users can also attach the ad’s visual creative. Chad Sowash, co-host of The Chad & Cheese Podcast commented:
“With Veritone Generative AI, we can get so much more out of our episodes including full contextual summaries, multilingual ad promos, images and graphics.”
Enterprise Benefits
The announcement also goes into a training and compliance use case for law enforcement and media generation use case for sports (see an example for the latter below). What seems clear is that the themes we have explored previously in Synthedia such as ChatGPT serving as a spark for innovation and large language models becoming key solutions to add new features to existing products is playing out across enterprise apps.
Veritone is another company that has found multiple new features to add across industries and use cases. You should expect to see many more examples in the next three months.
“We are excited to see the business community and individuals start to adopt and appreciate the magnitude of generative AI,” said Ryan Steelberg, president and chief executive officer, Veritone. I share that enthusiasm.
