Love your writing and insight, Bret... but, your comment about the Samsung experience may not necessarily represent reality. It depends upon what version of chatGPT the user is accessing, and also, whether that user has read ChatGPT's full T&Cs. OpenAI has made it plan for all who do how to opt out of their prompts, and the resulting responses from being used for future training and, therefore, by Samsung's competitors. Many large enterprises, rather than defaulting to the individual's steadfastness in reading such provisions are banning chatGPT outright, but the ability to opt out was available since the original release, and still exists today.

Hey Matt. It's a fair point. Opt-out does exist. You need to fill out a form or now you can also opt-out of all training and data retention (after 30 days) with a toggle switch.

Also, I am not aware of different T&Cs for different versions of ChatGPT. Do you have something more on that topic?

No, but I've spoken with leads from some of the big consultancies and they indicate that when you upgrade to 4.0 for the enterprise, you can opt out once, for the whole company, rather than having to submit individual opt-outs each time you use the service.

Yes. Got it. That is one of the promises of ChatGPT Business. Also, using the APIs is automatic opt-out today.
